York group helps neighbors stay warm
A group in York wants to make sure everyone has a warm coat during this bitter cold weather.
The after-school teen center, The Broken Wall, gave out coats, hats, gloves and other warm items on Saturday. They also served hot soup and hot drinks to anyone who stopped by.
Organizers say the community stepped up with donations to help their neighbors in need.
“They came from individual donations, people that are connected to Broken Wall or friends, families, from church members, that’s where donations came from this year,” says Carrie Bailey, who organized the event.
This is the first year for the “Neighbor Warming” event. Organizers hope businesses will get involved with donations next year.
