Police in Gettysburg are investigating a shots fired incident near Gettysburg College.
At approximately 6 o’clock Saturday morning, a student notified the Department of Public Safety that a gunshot had been fired in the student’s direction, near the intersection of Broadway & College Avenues. The student reported that an unidentified person in a white sedan fired the shot.
The Department of Public Safety contacted local and state police, who responded and initiated an investigation.
According to a letter from the Campus Emergency Response Team, a text message was sent notifying students and employees to “shelter in place” and the campus was closed. Four additional text messages were sent over the course of the morning and an all-clear text message was sent around 8:30 a.m.
Police continue the investigation. There is no information indicating that there is a continuing threat to the campus at large.
