Louisville wins NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship

(Atlanta, GA) — There could not be any better ending to March Madness than in Monday’s title game. The Louisville Cardinals overcame a double-digit deficit late in the first half and outlasted the Michigan Wolverines 82-76 for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship.

The Cardinals were down 12 when Luke Hancock, the game’s Most Outstanding Player, scored four straight 3-pointers to put the team back in the game. Hancock finished with 22 points.

For head coach Rick Pitino, it’s his second NCAA championship. He became the first coach to win two titles with two different teams, having won it all with Kentucky in 1996.

It was also announced Monday that Pitino would be inducted into the newest class of the Basketball Hall of Fame.Monday’s win was Louisville’s first championship since 1986.
