Lower Swatara Township Police report that five guns were stolen from four different cars in the same neighborhood the past two days. The first reported theft occurred on the 2000 block of Market Street extended. A 9mm handgun was stolen from a vehicle on Wednesday. Yesterday, three more thefts were reported. On the 1800 block of Market Street a laptop computer and a .380 handgun were stolen from a car. Then, in the first block of Hanover Street, two guns were stolen from a vehicle, a .45 caliber handgun and a 9mm handgun. The final theft was from a car parked in the 1800 block of Lakeside Drive. A 9mm handgun was stolen.
All the thefts appear to have happened when it was dark outside and the guns were taken from unlocked vehicles. Police say they have recovered one of the stolen guns. They urge residents to lock their car doors.
