UPDATE:  EASTBOUND LANES OF PA TURNPIKE AT MILEPOST 242 REOPEN TO TRAFFIC AT 9 PM THURSDAY.

Another massive headache for motorist in the Capital Region.  A truck loaded with hay caught fire on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in York County near milepost 242 between Harrisburg West and Harrisuburg East exchanges.  The eastbound lanes of turnpike are closed. Fire crews are forced to approach the fire scene from the westbound lanes.  Turnpike officials say it is uncertain when the roadway will reopen.  Traffic in the area is backlogged for miles.

This morning, a tractor trailer loaded with diesel fuel overturned and caught fire at the overpass of Interstate 81 and Route 322 just north of Harrisburg.  It happened at 6 am Thursday morning. The westbound section of Route 22-322 and the I-81 ramp is closed indefinitely.
