The state Attorney General’s Office filed wiretapping charges Friday against Luzerne County Controller Walter Griffith Jr.
Griffith, 58, of Trucksville, faces three counts of interception of wire, electronic or oral communications.
Authorities say Griffith recorded three conversations without the permission or knowledge of the other party. Griffith is accused of secretly recording a conference call on July 8, 2010, an executive session of the Luzerne County Retirement Board on August 2, 2010 and a telephone call on March 29, 2011, according to the state Attorney General’s office.
A preliminary hearing for Griffith has been scheduled for May 23 in Luzerne County Court.
