These collections are the first detected resurfacing of West Nile this year. This should remind everyone to take commonsense steps to protect against mosquito bites, such as wearing a Centers for Disease Control approved insect repellent and dumping standing water around personal property.
Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and County West Nile Virus staff will perform additional surveillance and control activities as needed in these areas.
