Suspect in Florida murder arrested in Stewartstown

A murder suspect wanted in Florida was arrested early this morning by US Marshals in Stewartstown. David Bidgeman, 20, is one of four suspects accused of committing a home invasion in Clermont, Florida on On May 22, 2012.  During the commission of the crime, the victim was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His arrest warrant was issued on May 20th, 2013, charging Bridgeman with 2nd Degree Murder.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force in Florida.  Information was developed on the possible whereabouts of Bridgeman in York County, Pennsylvania.  U.S. Marshals in Florida contacted the Middle District of Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force for investigative assistance.

Bridgeman was arrested without incident at a residence on West Pennsylvania Avenue in Stewartstown.  He was turned over to the Stewartstown Police Department for processing. Bridgeman will be arraigned on the outstanding charges and await extradition back to Florida.

This is the second arrest this week by U.S. Marshal Service personnel concerning the 2012 murder in Florida.  On May 28th, the Marshals Service arrested Arthur Spencer, a 20-year old co-defendant in Dickson City located in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.  Spencer was arrested without incident, and awaits extradition back to Florida on 2nd Degree Murder.

United States Marshal Pane stated, “The Marshals Service has made locating and arresting violent fugitives a priority. These two separate arrests have taken two violent murder suspects off our streets and allow the family of the victim to begin to find some closure to this awful event which occurred last year.”

U.S. Marshals were assisted in this investigation by personnel from the York City Police Department, York County Sheriff’s Office, York County District Attorney’s Office and the Pennsylvania State Police. These agencies are participating members of the Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Additional assistance was provided by the Stewartstown Police Department.
