Southbound Interstate 83 will be closed just south of the Loganville interchange (Exit 10) in southern York County for a few hours on Wednesday night, June 19, starting at around 9 p.m. Southbound motorists will be detoured at the Loganville exit, directed south onto the Susquehanna Trail (State Route 3001), and then returned to southbound I-83 at the Shrewsbury interchange (Exit 4). The southbound I-83 closure is necessary so that further investigation can be conducted related to the hit-and-run death of Rodney Paul Miller, the chief of the Loganville Volunteer Fire Company who was directing traffic along southbound I-83 at the time of his death on April 27. The southbound interstate closure should last two to three hours.
Motorists are asked to be alert to this nighttime closure, to slow down when approaching the Loganville interchange and exiting the interstate for the detour, and to follow the signs and directions around the closure.
