Three Mile Island Generating Station will hold its annual golf tournament on Friday, August 9 at Sunset Golf Course. The annual event raises vital funds for Londonderry Township emergency services. This year’s event is expected to raise about $50,000, bringing the eight-year total raised by TMI to $435,000.
A field of 120 golfers will tee-off at 9 a.m. Representatives from Three Mile Island, Londonderry Township and Londonderry Volunteer Fire Co. worked together on the planning and fundraising for the annual event.
“The milestone reached by this year’s tournament is a testament to the strong, lasting relationship the Township enjoys with Three Mile Island,” said Ron Kopp, Londonderry Township Supervisor. “All of our citizens benefit from having a strong emergency, fire and ambulance organization.”
“Our annual golf tournament is a true partnership between Three Mile Island, Londonderry Township and our vendors who sponsor the tournament,” said TMI Site Vice President Rick Libra. “It’s a great way to say “thank you” for the outstanding support we receive each year from the Township and an opportunity for us to help provide crucial emergency services to residents of our community.”
In addition to TMI, other major sponsors of the golf tournament include AREVA NP Inc., Chicago Bridge and Iron (CB&I), Consolidated Power, Enercon Services, First Energy Corp., Hake/Barnhart Rigging, Joseph Jingoli & Son, Inc., NALCO, Underwater Construction, and URS.
