People in York are teaming up to spread warmth around the community, on a very cold day.
Local organizations and the York Rescue Mission handed out blankets, wrapped up as gifts on Saturday to those who need them this holiday season.
Volunteers donated more than 6,000 blankets.
Those involved say the event brings the community closer during the holidays.
“When they see other people loving them, giving them something because they love them and care for them, it just gives people hope. It helps the people to just get a leg up and understand and they’re going to be able to be okay, other people care and will help them out,” says Dianne Smeigh with the York Rescue Mission.
This was the 13th year for the blanket outreach. Basic toiletries were also given out to people in need.
