It’s a day that will live in history. December 7, 1941, the day Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese.
Saturday marked the 72nd anniversary of that deadly attack on Oahu, Hawaii that pushed the United States into World War II.
Roughly 2500 U.S. Marines, Sailors and Soldiers were killed and more than 2,000 others were injured.

On Saturday, people from across the state took time to remember Pearl Harbor in a special way.
Defense Activities Mechanicsburg hosted a memorial program at the State Capitol building in Harrisburg.
After Naval officers spoke, Governor Tom Corbett honored Pennsylvania residents who survived the attack.

“These seven heroic men didn’t just witness history, they were active participants in the beginning of a great struggle against worldwide tyranny, against aggression, and against dictatorship. On that day, America changed forever, on that very fateful Sunday morning,” said Governor Corbett.

The officers’ families were also honored.
