A Dauphin County woman uses her ex-husband identification to run up $17,887.09 in credit card purchases. Pennsylvania State Police say Caryn Louise Karl, 43, of Millersburg, used her ex-husband’s name, date of birth, social security number and address without his permission to open a Discover, Capital One, Chase Freedom and two American Express credit cards. Karl had been divorced from her ex-husband for three years.
Karl used the two American Express cards and made multiple purchases totaling $9,443.93 on one card and $8,443.16 on the other card. The purchases began in April and continued until the end of June of this year.
Charges against Karl include two counts of Theft by Deception, two counts of Access Device Fraud, 5 counts of Identity Theft and Possessing Instruments of Crime. She was arraigned and released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
