Middle School teacher arrested on child pornography charges

An online investigation by the State Attorney General’s office leads to the arrest of a Cumberland County teacher on Child Pornography charges.  According to the criminal complaint, agents found numerous files containing explicit images of minors engaged in sexually graphic acts and poses, including a file named “Preteen Boys Predo Gay.”

The agents determined that the files were being made publicly available for download from a computer allegedly belonging to Craig Cohen, of East Pennsburg.  Cohen is an 8th grade science teacher at East Pennsboro Middle School.

A search of Cohen’s East Pennsboro residence resulted in the seizure of a desktop computer, a laptop computer, an external hard drive and various other electronic media. The items were preliminarily examined by the Attorney General’s Computer Forensics Unit, which located numerous files containing suspected child pornography.

Cohen was arrested this morning and charged with four counts of dissemination of child pornography, one count of possession of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

He was preliminarily arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Richard Dougherty and placed in the Cumberland County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 3, 2014 at 9 a.m.

This is my daughter's 8th grade teacher. Another big hit for the district. Racism is this school, prejudice by faculty towards minority students, teachers going after concerned parents by calling them neo nazi, and now this. Maybe Carlisle can just absorb the entire school district because they can't do anything right lately.

Mr. Cohen was never a bad teacher. We never felt weird around him or creeped out. He was a nice guy. That doesn't make up for what he did. Just know he was a great teacher.

i completley agree , dont know him but its sad he was observing acts with children probably ages of the children he was teaching, and that is by far the grossest part about this story! People seriously need to watch their children growing up. Life sure is different now than it was 10 years ago, my opinion is that it is only going to get worse as generations continue.
