A New Jersey man, accused of phoning in a bomb threat to Hersheypark, is handed an eight month prison sentence. William Klein, 47 plead guilty in federal court to Interstate Communication with Threat to Injury Charge. He was sentenced immediately.
According to court documents Hershey Entertainment and Resorts received a call at about 9:52 pm on July 5, 2013. The male caller is quoted as saying, “If One Direction plays tomorrow, the stadium will blowup.” The stadium was placed on lock-down before the concert, a bomb sweep was performed and a bag check was performed on all patrons entering the stadium.
The call was made from a pay phone outside a 7-Eleven store in Northfield, New Jersey. Klein was positively identified through video surveillance.
In addition to his sentence, Klein was sentenced to two years probation with two months to be served on home detention with electronic monitoring.
