Michael’s Stores, Inc. is warning customers in our area who used credit cards at the stores that they may be at risk for fraud after a huge data breach.

Michael’s says the hack occurred between May 2013 and January 2014. Hackers used malware to get into the system at specific stores.
Credit card numbers and expiration dates on cards were the items taken. Michael’s says some card companies have reported fraud because of the hack.

The list includes the Michael’s Stores in our area:

– Camp Hill location (3415 Simpson Ferry Rd)
– Carlisle (230 Westminister Dr)
– Chambersburg (967 Norland Ave)
– Harrisburg (5125 Jonestown Rd)
– Lancaster (1645 Lititz Pike)
– Lebanon (1127 Quentin Rd)

Michael’s says if your card was compromised you should receive a call from your card company. But experts say don’t wait on a call in these data breaches – if you used your card at the store in that time, call your card company and let them know you may be at risk for fraud.

“The best security starts with the person who holds the card,” says one customer Todd Eleuteri. “If it doesn’t look right, feel right, don’t do it.”
