Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival kicks off in the rain

The Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival kicked off Thursday despite the rain. The festival has been running every year, twice a year since 1979.

It draws thousands of out of town visitors to Granite Hill Camping Resort, many of whom return year after year. The event features four days of bluegrass music on two stages and the music continues rain or shine.

Fans say the rain doesn’t dampen any spirits– on Thursday kids were covered in mud from playing in puddles, and many people had tents set up in the on-and-off downpour.

“It’s supposed to be nice on Saturday and Ricky Scaggs is coming, we like him a lot so it’ll be good,” says Judy Bakonyi from Vernon, NJ.

The festival runs through Sunday.
