A man was arrested following a police incident in Derry Township on Monday morning. Police have charged 48-year-old Dominic Mariani with reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.

Officers were called to the intersection of Gates Road and Route 743 around 3:17 a.m. for  a report of a man shooting a gun multiple times outside his home.

When investigators arrived on the scene–they found Mariani shooting a gun towards Old Hershey Road. According to police reports, Mariani retreated back into the home at 157 Old Hershey Road and additional police were dispatched to the scene.

Mariani surrendered several hours later without incident. He was arrested and taken to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $10,000.

Police are still trying to determine why Mariani was firing shots during the early morning hours. Investigators say alcohol did a play a role in the incident.

Officers found 32 firearms in Mariani’s  home, according to police reports.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges could follow, police said.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jun 23.
