Mother arraigned in death of her premature newborn

The Lancaster County mother of a premature baby that was found dead in the trash has been formally arraigned on criminal charges.  Marie Lavaud of New Holland, was arrested at around 1 o’clock this afternoon after her release from a local hospital.

Lavaud is charged with Concealing Death of a Child and Abuse of Corpse.

Following arraignment Lavaud was sent to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $150,000 cash bail.
