Traveling out of the airport is about to become a little bit harder in Oklahoma. That's because an Oklahoma driver's license will may no longer be accepted at security at the beginning of 2016.
All Oklahoma residents could need a passport, even on domestic flights. The state never signed on to the federal government's Real ID act, which is supposed to make it harder for potential terrorists to get a fake i-d. Now travelers may have to bring extra identification with them to the airport.
"You would be required to have a drivers license and a passport or some other federal id to actually go through the TSA checkpoint or fly on a commercial aircraft," says Karen Carney of Will Rogers World Airport. One passenger at the airport says he's all for it. "If everybody does it and I do it, it makes it safer for all of us I guess."
Oklahoma citizens will also have to bring their passport to get through security at federal buildings, such as a federal courthouse.
