30,000 runners hit the pavement for the 39th Annual Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday. They made their way 26.2 miles from Arlington, Virginia through Washington, D.C. The race winds around some of the country’s most recognized sites; that’s where it got its nickname, “The Marathon of the Monuments.”

This year, the marathon was a clean sweep for Team Army.
Coming in first in the men’s division, Army Specialist Samuel Kosgei, of Junction City, KS with a time 2:22:11.43.

On the women’s side, Army Captain Meghan Curran, of Moorestown, NJ finished first with a time of 2:51:45:60.
