Susquehanna Township School Board Divided by Lawsuit

A Dauphin County Judge orders the reinstatement of former Susquehanna Township School District Superintendent Susan Kegerise. Kegerise sued the district for $6 million in April, after she said she was subjected to physical intimidation, verbal abuse, age, race and sex discrimination by members of the Susquehanna Township School Board.  She also accused the school district of breach of contract. The school board then determined that the lawsuit constituted Kegerise’s resignation.

In his ruling, Judge William Tully wrote that the school board bypassed the procedures required to remove the superintendent from  her position, and the board’s contention that Kegerise’s lawsuit constituted her resignation was incorrect.

“The district has received the opinion and order and is reviewing it.  We have not determined whether or not the district will be taking an appeal.  That decision will be made promptly,” said John Dietrich, president of the Susquehanna Township Board of School Directors, in an email to FOX43.
