Cumberland County Coroner Charles Hall has released the name of the man who was killed early Thursday morning along Interstate 81.

Gerald J. Kennedy, 53, of Chelmsford Massachusetts was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Hall, Kennedy died as a result of multiple blunt force trauma from injuries sustained during the crash. Kennedy was not wearing his seat-belt when he was ejected from the vehicle.

Southbound lanes remain closed at this time as state police continue to investigate the crash.

State police in Carlisle are currently on scene investigating a fatal crash along Interstate 81 southbound.

According to police the two vehicle crash happened just before 5:30 a.m. near mile marker 42 in Dickinson Township, Cumberland County.

Both vehicles were traveling southbound when,  for unknown reasons, a white truck cut over into the left lane without notice and struck a dark-colored truck police said.

Both vehicles spun out of control and went through the median ending up in the northbound lanes.  The driver of the white truck, a 53-year-old man from Massachusetts,  was thrown from his vehicle and killed police said.

The driver of the dark-colored truck was not injured.

Southbound lanes are open, but the northbound lanes remain closed. Unknown how long the lanes will be closed down for.

The names of the victims are not being released pending family notification.
