“This is not a case of whodunnit,” said Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman. Stedman said security cameras at Millersville University show only two people in 18-year old Karlie Hall’s room in Bard Hall when she died: Karlie Hall and her boyfriend, 19-year old Gregorio Orrostieta. University officials said Hall was a freshman Business major, and her twin sister also attends the university.

According to police Orrostieta called 911 around 5 a.m. early Sunday morning to report Hall was unresponsive. Stedman said the autopsy showed that Hall died hours earlier, around 2 a.m. Stedman said witnesses also reported hearing a struggle around 2 a.m. A RA at Millersville University went to Hall's room to check but no one answered the door.

Police said when they arrived at the freshman's dorm room, Orrosieta was bent over her performing CPR. "The CPR I believe was completely fake. She had been dead for hours," said Stedman.

Police noted that Orrostieta had blood smeared on his face, hands and clothing, a cut on his forehead and scratches on his chest.

A different account
According to court documents Orrostieta said they got into a fight at a party and Hall hit him. They allegedly got into another fight once they got back to Hall's dorm room. Orrostieta told police he shoved hall and she fell to the ground and hit her head on a chair. He also allegedly told police he back-handed Hall in the face and she became unresponsive.

Stedman said this account does not match the results of Hall's autopsy. "There had been no mention of any type of strangulation, and the injuries that she suffered were far greater and more severe than a back-hand slap and one push," said Stedman.  "She suffered a number of injuries on a number of parts of her body. I don't think this is a good time to go into the details, other than she suffered a lot of blows and then strangulation."

Orrostieta is being held in Lancaster County Prison without bail. He is charged with criminal homicide. A preliminary Hearing date has not been set.

Domestic Violence
The couple had been together for nearly a year. Investigators are urging the public to come forward and report any prior incidents between the couple. "There are people out there who have information about their history and their past. we would ask them to call," said Stedman.
