ROTHERHAM, South Yorks — A woman and her daughter who have battled a rare disorder their entire lives received matching facelifts for free in the United States.

Daily Mail reports that Tracey Gibson, 45, and her daughter, Zara Hartshorn, 18, have Lipodystrophy. The disorder causes fat to dissolve beneath their skin, causing wrinkles and the appearance of being much older than they actually are.

The procedure includes a face and neck lift plus Botox injections and would normally cost £50,000.

Hartshorn received the surgery for free in 2012, when she was 16 years old, and has kept in touch with her surgeon since then.

After Gibson’s surgery was refused by the National Health Service in the UK she thought she would be trapped in a sinking face forever.

That was until the doctor that performed the procedure on her daughter offered Gibson the same free facelift, according to WJW.

Gibson said she was teased because of her condition and called “granny” or “a monkey.”

“Now I’ve got a new lease on life, and I can hold my head high when I walk down the street,” Gibson told Daily Mail. “It was never about looking younger, it was just about having a normal face that I could be happy with and stand to look at in the mirror. I feel like I’m having the last laugh now at everyone who called me names.”
