HARRISBURG, PA (WPMT) A federal judge has sentenced Steven Sheely, Jr., 40,  of Mechanicsburg to five months in prison his role in a multi-million dollar sports gambling operation.

Sheely plead guilty on December 4, 2014, to being involved with his father and seven other named individuals, in a conspiracy to run an illegal sports gambling operation in central Pennsylvania.

Sheely, his father Steven Sheely, Sr., Camp Hill, Staci Sheely, Camp Hill, John McDonald, New Cumberland, John McDonald,  New Cumberland, James Fox, Harrisburg, Bret Hagar, Carlisle, Brian Fertenbaugh, Mechanicsburg, Ralph Domene, Camp Hill and Roger Vaneslow II, New Cumberland were alleged to have taken in millions of dollars in illegal bets on all manners of sporting events.  With the help of court approved wiretaps investigators were able to identify and dismantle the operation. The participants were arrested in a series of raids on May 22, 2014.

In addition to his prison sentence, Sheely was placed on five months house arrest after he is released.  He was ordered to report on April 7, to begin serving his sentence.

The case was investigated by the FBI, state police and the Pennsylvania State Horse Racing Commission.
