LANCASTER, Pa. – Lancaster City Police hope the driver of an SUV can help solve an armed robbery.  At about 9:34 am on April 17 a 72-year-old city man was walking in the area of the 1st block of North Mary Street.  He was approached from behind by a man who pushed him against a parked car, displayed a handgun, and demanded the victim’s wallet.

The suspect took the victim’s wallet from his pocket and then pushed the victim to the ground. The suspect ran away south on Mary Street then east on Grant Street. The victim sustained minor cuts and abrasions to his left elbow.

The suspect is described as a “tall” black male in his 20’s, medium build, short black hair, wearing a mid to dark colored hooded sweatshirt.

At about 9:50 a.m. Lancaster Safety Coalition video captured images of a dark colored SUV most likely an Isuzu Trooper, pulling up beside the victim while he was on the ground. The occupants of the SUV stopped briefly and asked the victim if he was alright, but then left the area. It is possible the occupants of the SUV witnessed portions of the robbery, to include seeing the suspect.

The Lancaster City Police are asking the driver or occupants of the SUV to contact Detective Tom Ginder at (717) 735-3345 with any information they have.
