A Susquehanna Township High School Quarterback is inspiring hundreds of thousands of people around the world by keeping his word. Years ago, Ben Moser told his mom he'd take his friend to the prom.

He wanted to make sure she'd fit in, because she has Down Syndrome. His vow turns into a prom promise and it's teaching others a valuable lesson.

Ben Moser and Mary Lapkowicz have a friendship that flourished around the fourth grade.

Ben says, "We were always hanging out on the playground together playing around. I was looking out for her, making sure she playing with everybody."

Ben valued their friendship so much, he made a vow to his mom, Lisa.

Lisa says, "He said you know, I'm going to take Mary to Prom and I said that would be one of the proudest things you could ever do."

But after the sixth grade, Mary switched schools to Central Dauphin.

Ben says, "We were distant, we went to two different schools, I didn't have much contact with her."

Then last year, they rekindled their friendship on the football field. Ben is Susquehanna Township's Quarterback and Mary's the ball-girl for C.D. That's when Ben's prom promise prompted plans for a special "promposal."

Ben says, "I bought balloons and flowers and wrote Prom on it, brought it to her house and gave it to her."

Last weekend, he escorted Mary to her prom.

Mary says, "It was fun, we danced."

Mary never left the dance floor! But Ben's still recovering...

"She danced the whole time- gave me a run for my money," says Moser.

Along with a picture perfect night, their parents are filled with pride.

Lisa says, "Probably the proudest I've been."

Mary's mom, Ann Marie says, "How kids can show you what love looks like and the youth of this world are exceptionally good at showing you what that looks like."

Ben and Mary will always cherish this memory...a special moment fulfilled by sticking to your word.

Ben says, "There's nothing wrong with going to the prom with somebody that's not like everybody else. You should just be who you are and do what's right and keep your word, just be you."
