BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. — Bill Novak and Norman MacArthur have been father and son since 2000, but soon they will be a married couple.
Novak and MacArthur are a same-sex couple that have been together more than 50 years, and their adoption was only made to ensure the couple had legal rights.
“The time came about to do estate planning,” MacArthur told Patch. “We were told at that time ‘hell would freeze over before Pennsylvania approves same sex marriage’.”
The couple, now in their 70’s, were able to vacate the adoption on May 14th and the next day they were granted a Pennsylvania marriage license.
An exact wedding date has not been set, but they say they are “ecstatic beyond belief” to be able to get married.
