HARRISBURG, Pa.–A man’s body was recovered from the Susquehanna River near the I-83 bridge in Harrisburg on Sunday afternoon.
The Dauphin County coroner’s office and River Rescue team responded to the scene around 12:30 p.m. after getting reports that a body was found near the Dock Street dam. The man was dead, but crews say it did not appear the body had been there for long.
“We hadn`t had any calls as far as anyone being in the river to start with so we really weren`t looking for nothing, but the body was hung up right along the shore and like I said a fisherman found him,” said Chief Frank Egnesitz from Harrisburg River Rescue.
The Dauphin County coroner was on scene and will be performing the autopsy.
