PIQUA, Ohio -- A trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol was honored on Thursday for saving a semi-truck driver's life.

The patrol said Trooper Eric Devers of the Piqua Post arrived at a crash scene earlier this year in Miami County 12 minutes before paramedics. The video shows Devers running past the highway barrier to get to the crashed truck, where the driver was taking low, gasping breaths.

"Keep breathing," Devers says on the recording. "Don't you die. Don't you die on me. Come on."

On the audio, Devers can be heard counting out chest compressions while giving instructions to a passerby.

The driver was taken to an area hospital and made a full recovery. According to the Highway Patrol, Devers' actions saved the man's life.
