August ends steamy and more heat starts September

AUGUST ENDS WARM: The warmth is back in full force across the region, and it sticks around for the final hours of August. A few isolated showers and thunderstorms continue through the rest of the day, but fade into the evening. This leaves a warm and soupy night, with hazy areas and overnight lows in the middle to upper 60s. Monday we end August with more of the same. A couple thunderstorms are still possible, and afternoon highs are in the middle to upper 80s. This humidity stays will us as well, adding an uncomfortable feel.

STEAMY SEPTEMBER START: Tuesday welcomes September with a mixture of sunshine and clouds. Temperatures are near the 90 degree mark. A stray thunderstorm is a threat yet again, but most areas stay dry. Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures rise into the lower 90s. There is still the threat for a stray thunderstorm, but most of the area remains dry. Friday highs are still near 90 degrees, but this depends on if the day starts with some showers. The humidity lingers too, keeping an uncomfortable feel to the heat already in place. If we manage three consecutive days of 90 degrees during this stretch, it will be the first September heat wave since 2010!

LABOR DAY WEEKEND: Heading into the first weekend of September, the heat is in no rush to leave. Saturday brings an isolated thunderstorm threat. It’s still warm and muggy, with temperatures above seasonable averages in the middle to upper 80s.

Have a great week!
