Puppies Rescued

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. –  The Pennsylvania SPCA says it rescued 18 dogs and puppies toda, found living in filthy conditions, from an unlicensed breeder in Lancaster County.
Responding to a tip from Pennsylvania’s Office of Dog Law Enforcement, PSPCA officers executed a search warrant Friday afternoon at the breeders’ farm near Lititz, and found a variety of dogs and puppies in an outbuilding with waste throughout their enclosures. The animals were removed and transported to PSPCA Headquarters in Philadelphia for medical evaluations and treatment.

The puppies and dogs are not available at this time. The investigation is ongoing and charges are likely once completed.  This was the third large scale search warrant executed by the PSPCA in Lancaster County in the last 9 months.

Last December, PSPCA officers rescued 62 dogs living in unsanitary conditions from a residence, also in Lititz. And in April, PSPCA officers rescued 19 more dogs from the same property. The owner in that case plead guilty to all charges.

“Being able to respond so quickly to animals suffering like this is a top priority for PSPCA,” said Jerry Buckley, Pennsylvania SPCA CEO. “I am grateful that due to the support of our donors and community partners, we are able to help these dogs in their time of need.”

The PSPCA Humane Law Enforcement work in Lancaster County is supported by the Humane League of Lancaster.
