NEW HOLLAND, Pa. – A Marietta man is accused of providing false information on background check form to purchase a firearm.  On February 28, Shawn T. Hummer, age 38, attempted to purchase a handgun and long rifle at The Sportsman Shop which at the time was located at 101 W Main St in New Holland Borough.

Hummer provided answers on the forms that were not truthful and was rejected for the firearms by the PICS (Pennsylvania Instant Check System) which is run by the Pennsylvania State Police. On July 20, PSP notified New Holland Borough Police of the violations.

Hummer was charged on Wednesday with Sale or Transfer of Firearms and Unsworn Falsification to Authorities as the result of the information he provided at the time of purchase.
Hummer was arraigned and released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
