CHESTER COUNTY, Pa.– A crash on the Pennsylvania turnpike on Sunday afternoon, claimed the life of a Penn State student.

19-year old Vitalya Sepot, of Branford, Connecticut died after being thrown from a car that was traveling west near the Valley Forge interchange in Chester County. Sepot was a sophomore at Penn State and her friends called her “Tally.”

She was heading back to State College from a THON fundraiser with a group of other students, when the crash happened. Ambulance crews transported six other people, who were involved in the crash, to the hospital; they suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The Executive Director for THON 2016, Katie Mailey, released this statement: “No words can express our sorrow when learning of this accident and of Tally’s passing. We will do all that we can to honor her memory and dedication to THON.”

State Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
