COLUMBIA, Pa. - For the last 27 years, the Rt. 462 bridge that connects Columbia and Wrightsville has been closed down for hours on the first Saturday in October. The Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce hosts Bridge Bust, a festival that gives people a chance to shop and eat on the historic bridge.
In years past, over 18,000 people have attended. This year, the weather kept people and even vendors away. Out of 309 vendors, attendees say they think only about half showed up and only about 2,000 people bought a ticket to get in.
This is one of the largest fundraisers of the year for the Chamber of Commerce. There is no word on what they will do to make up for the lack of attendance.
