HARRISBURG, Pa. – Parts of the State Street Bridge in Harrisburg will be closed on Monday due to construction. The east and westbound lanes on the bridge will be closed to traffic as crews work on renovating the bridge’s drainage system.
Foot traffic will be maintained across the bridge at all times during construction, with minor detours as necessary during the project.
The scope of the project is to repair and restore existing drains in the bridge deck and reconnect them to the existing storm water system. The Department of General Services is citing infrastructure preservation and traffic safety as the prime reasons the work on the bridge needs to be done.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction until the project is completed in mid-October.
