JONESTOWN, Pa. - For women in the Middle East, feminine hygiene products are hard to get and expensive. The Global Aid Network, GAIN, came up with a solution.
Using flannel, towels and snaps, reusable and washable pads called LuoPads can be made. The Lebanon Area Evangelical Free Church heard about the project and wanted to help.
Ron Burkholder brought the idea to the church. Wednesday night over 150 came to help make the pads.
"It's amazing the amount of interest and how many people have gotten on board," he said
The church wants to send 1,000 kits overseas. Each kit contains six pads, two pairs of underwear, a rag, two safety pins and a plastic bag.
