Kyra Johnson tells WGNO when she couldn't get inside a building as a tornado approached, she hid behind a soda machine.
If there's any question how close Johnson came to death, all one has to do is look at the mangled mesh of metal that is left of Sagona's Hardware store.
Johnson had just made her Fed-Ed deliveries to the store's back door when she realized the weather had taken a turn for the worst.
Johnson braced herself behind a Coke machine, but the 140mph winds pulled the machine to the ground.
So how did she survive? Johnson credits God, because after seeing the video of how close she came to death, she had no other possible explanation.
The store's owner David Sagona miraculously survived as well. The two were completely unharmed.
