Harrisburg, PA. – PA State Police are investigating a fatal armed robbery attempt that occurred today just before 7 a.m. at the Pennsylvania Turnpike’s Fort Littleton Interchange, Exit 180, in Fulton County.
A PA Turnpike employee and another worker employed by a Turnpike contractor were shot and killed during the incident. Responding troopers were on scene within minutes and encountered the suspect. Gunfire was exchanged and the suspect was shot and killed.
“On behalf of my fellow Turnpike commissioners and everybody in the PA Turnpike family, we are all deeply saddened by this horrific tragedy,” said Turnpike Chairman Sean Logan.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the deceased victims, the turnpike employee and the contractor. We cannot imagine what the families must be feeling right now. Certainly, today will be a day that none of us will soon forget.”
Chairman Logan, Turnpike personnel and State Police Troop T will hold a news conference on the incident at 5 p.m. today at the Turnpike’s Burnt Cabins Maintenance Facility located at milepost 186 eastbound. The Maintenance Facility is located just on the west side of the Tuscarora Tunnel in Huntingdon County.
