LANCASTER, Pa. — A 17 year-old boy is charged with firing bullets into the door of a residence in Lancaster, narrowly missing two people who were sitting on steps in front of the door. It happened Sunday afternoon, just before 5pm on the first block of E. Filbert St.
A witness told police he was in the rear yard of his residence with several other adults and juveniles. Two males were sitting on the front steps of the residence. He heard someone yelling or arguing and heard a gun shot. The witness began moving people from the yard into the kitchen when he heard 4 more gun shots. Bullets struck the front door to the residence, narrowly missing the two males on the front steps. The witness looked out the front door and saw the teen with a small handgun in his right hand, running on Filbert towards Manor St. He recognized the suspect. and had an idea where he might be running; a residence in the 500 block of Manor St. Numerous shell casings were found at location where the shots were fired. Police located the suspect at the Manor St address, and he was positively identified by witnesses. The suspect was arrested and charged with Discharge of Firearm into an Occupied Structure, Firearms not to be Carried without a License, Possession of Firearm by Minor, 2 counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Discharge of a Firearm in Lancaster City Limits before MDJ Witkonis.
The 17-year-old was detained at the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center.
