NEW OXFORD, Pa.– Residents in parts of Adams County are being urged to shelter in place immediately. The warning is for people in the borough of New Oxford, as well as Hamilton and Oxford Townships.

Due to a possible ammonia leak at the South Water Street location of Plainville Farms, people living within one-mile NE of the town square are being asked to stay inside their homes. All outside doors and windows should be closed and all external air intakes should be turned off.

Drivers and pedestrians should also avoid travel in the New Oxford vicinity.

This warning was issued by the PA Emergency Management Agency for the Adams County Department of Emergency Services. It will remain in place until the air is deemed safe and official notice is given that it is safe to go outdoors.

FOX43 will bring you more information as it becomes available.
