FAIRVIEW TOWNSHIP, YORK COUNTY, Pa. -- Former state budget secretary Charles Zogby was in court Monday on charges that he attacked his wife.

Zogby faces assault and harassment charges for allegedly striking his wife in the face and giving her a bloody nose.

The judge heard testimony from both Zogby's wife, and the officer who responded to their home.

The victim took the stand and testified that the attack followed a question from Zogby to their daughter about missing lunchmeat.

Mrs. Zogby stated that when her husband asked her about the lunchmeat, she didn't get a chance to answer before he hit her in the face.

She also testified she now has a fractured nose and ribs, but defense attorney Korey Leslie argues there's more to the story.

Charle's Zogby's attorney Korey Leslie said "I am going to show the story we heard today is not the truth. There's more that was occurring that led to the police being involved in this case. This was not a full out assault, or attack, as described in court today."

Leslie asked the police officer who testified if Zogby's wife showed any signs of drinking, to which he said no.

He also asked the officer if he could smell alcohol on her, but the officer said he has no sense of smell.

Zogby will be back in court this fall. The judge set his formal arrangement for October 7th.
