According to Penn State University promotions, the late Coach Joe Paterno will be honored on Sept. 17 when PSU hosts Temple University football.
A release explains that on the Commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Paterno’s first game — Sept. 17, 1966 — the university will provide activities during the game that will take place to commemorate Paterno’s first game as the head coach at Penn State.

- This year will be the Second Annual Stripe Out. Each section will be coordinated in either all blue or white clothing to create a stripe effect in Beaver Stadium. More info about the Stripe Out will be released in August. The game will be a student section White Out.
- Commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Coach Joe Paterno – Activities during the game will take place to commemorate Joe Paterno’s first game as the head football coach at Penn State — September 17, 1966.
- THON Day – The Penn State Dance Marathon (THON) will be featured for the event’s amazing fundraising efforts in the fight against pediatric cancer when Penn State takes on Temple. Additionally, a portion of ticket sales will benefit the Penn State Dance Marathon and the Four Diamonds Fund. The world’s largest student-run philanthropy, THON has raised more than $137 million for the Four Diamonds Fund.
