STATE COLLEGE, Pa.-- The Penn State Nittany Lions opened their football season on Saturday in front of 94,000 fans at Beaver Stadium. It was a perfect day to hang around outside the stadium to tailgate, play games and throw the football.
When fans headed to the gates to go inside, they found new security measures in place. Each person is checked with metal detection wands.  To keep the line moving, all of the gates opened two hours before kickoff so there would be little to no wait for fans.
"Yeah, there were no issues with security unless you were trying to hide something, you're going to get in fine," said PSU fan Kate Myers.
The Blue & White won their home opener against Kent State 33-13. The next home game for the Nittany Lions is Saturday, September 17th against Temple.  Kickoff is set for noon.
