Student in custody after threat postpones Columbia, York Suburban football game

COLUMBIA, Pa. – The  Columbia High School home football game Friday night against York Suburban was postponed at the last minute.  Columbia School District officials issued a statement shortly after 7 p.m. on the District’s website explaining the reason for the postponement.   The stadium was evacuated minutes before kickoff.

About an hour later, another statement was issued that a student was taken into custody.

“We have been informed that the student who made the threat is in custody of the Columbia Borough Police Department and the investigation is ongoing.  The District wishes to express appreciation for the decisive action, cooperation, and efficient work of CBPD.  The District also wishes to thank and compliment all who cooperated leaving the field in an orderly manner this evening.  The game is rescheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, September 17 at 2 pm AT York Suburban High School.”
