World Series – Chicago Cubs v Cleveland Indians – Two

Game 3 of the 2016 World Series is tonight. Millions of viewers will be tuning in to watch every pitch, every strike, and every home run.

As the drama unfolds between the two franchises who haven’t adorn a World Series banner in decades, another longstanding issue is emerging. The Indians have scaled back its use of “Chief Wahoo” as their primary logo.

The iconic symbol has been removed from caps, and batting helmets throughout recent years. Paul Dolan, the Indians’ owner, has said in reports that while Wahoo’s status has been officially downgraded, he also said there are currently no plans to retire the logo altogether, according to Fox Sports. Dolan noted that Wahoo is part of the franchise’s history and legacy.

Criticism has mounted that the logo is insensitive to Native Americans.
