HARRISBURG, Pa. — Department of State officials announced that overall Election Day in Pennsylvania was uneventful.
Although some people were having issues with voting machines earlier in the day, officials said the problem was solved before those votes were cast.
Pennsylvania Secretary of State Pedro Cortes said no more problems were reported than they’ve seen in previous elections.
He said Pennsylvania uses about 25,000 voting machines, and there’s always a potential for a small percentage to have issues.
Earlier in the day, officials were reporting issues of votes not being recorded correctly in Perry, Cumberland and Lebanon Counties.
The calibration of some machines was off, causing people to not vote for the candidates they thought they selected.
Cortes said 25 machines were affected, but they were either replaced or fixed.
Cortes said, “The good thing is that to the best of our knowledge in talking with the county directors and other election personnel, no vote was cast inaccurately and no voters were disenfranchised.”
He said everyone who was in line by 8 p.m. was able to vote.
