MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Two Middletown teenagers, 19-year-old Scott Shaffer, and 18-year-old Joseph Keating are in stable condition at Lehigh Valley Hospital following a fiery weekend crash. On Saturday, November 25, at about 11:09 p.m., Lower Swatara Police and Fire Departments, along with Life Lion EMS were dispatched to an auto accident in the 300 block of Stoner Drive in the Township.
Dauphin County Communications continued to update first responders with additional information, including the vehicle was on fire and there may be up to five (5) occupants. As it turned out, there were only two people in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Officers arrived to find a vehicle and some of the surrounding area on fire. Two occupants had been pulled from the vehicle prior to the arrival of police. Both suffered burns to their lower extremities. One patient was immediately flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital. The other patient was transported by ground to Hershey Medical Center and later flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital.
Lower Swatara Township Police continue to investigate the accident, with the assistance of the Dauphin County Accident Reconstruction Team.
