YORK COUNTY, Pa. — On Monday night a Southwestern Regional Officer was called to investigate a non-injury crash where a pick-up truck had hit another vehicle, and then fled the scene.  The crash happened in the 200 block of N. Main St. in Spring Grove.

After the officer had completed the report and left the scene, he was on patrol and 30 minutes later he located the vehicle at the intersection of Bentz Rd. and SR 516 in North Codorus Township.

The driver was identified as 47-year-old William Cannon.  The officer noticed that Cannon was obviously intoxicated behind the wheel.  When the officer attempted to arrest and handcuff him, Cannon began to fight wildly with the officer.

The officer’s backup was a distance away which lead the officer to deploy his electronic control device, or Taser.  This was successful in gaining compliance and the suspect was taken into custody.  The officer was uninjured.

Cannon was charged with several crimes including suspicion of DUI, resisting arrest, and leaving the scene of crash.  He transported to York County Central Booking for processing.
